Eduardo Marquez, DC, CCSP, ART
Dr. Marquez grew up in DeKalb, Illinois before attending Augustana College. He graduated from Augustana College receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree. While in undergrad, he was in the pre-Physical Therapy program majoring in Biology with a minor in Spanish. He participated in many organizations and clubs, in addition to playing intercollegiate football. He furthered his education by receiving his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic. While at Palmer he was involved in technique clubs and worked as a Clinical Radiology Assistant. He also participated in the Clinic Abroad Program where he traveled to Honduras to provide Chiropractic care. He has received additional certifications in soft tissue techniques, Flexion/Distraction, Activator Method technique, Active Release Technique (ART), and he is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP). After graduating, he practiced in the Cedar Rapids/Hiawatha area before coming back to the Quad-City area to help with the healthcare needs of the community. When asked what got him into the profession he stated: “I knew I always wanted to be in the health profession. During my last year at Augustana College I was involved in a car accident that left me unable to turn my head, and in extreme pain. I went to multiple medical doctors and had physical therapy, but after many months nothing helped except for muscle relaxers and pain killers. Knowing that I did not want to take medication for the rest of my life I knew I had to do something else. That is when Chiropractic was introduced to me, and after being treated my issues were resolved. Also, I had low back pain that I thought was normal from playing football which got taken care of during treatment. Furthermore, I worked at a handicapped development center where I would commonly take patients to their doctor appointments, and after seeing the many benefits Chiropractic had with a variety of patients with disabilities I knew that Chiropractic was the profession for me.”
Kelly Schmidt, DC
Dr. Schmidt was born and raised in Iowa. Born in Sioux City and later moved to Hampton Iowa in High School. As a child he was very active in sports and continued to play football, baseball, and track into high school. He attended Iowa State University where he received his undergraduate degree in Exercise & Sport Science. While attending ISU he was also a member of the Iowa State Cheer Squad, where he participated in football as well as men’s and women’s basketball events. There he had great experiences traveling with the team as well as being a part of the Insight.com Bowl and Men’s and Women’s Big 12 Championships wins while attending the university. Dr. Schmidt chose to further his education at Palmer College of Chiropractic after making lifelong friends with an amazing chiropractic family during his summers in Okoboji, IA. He remembers his first chiropractic visit very well. He was very young, maybe 8, when he was tripped at a soccer game. He stood up and couldn’t move his next to either side and was terrified. That’s when he received his first chiropractic adjustment and as he got older began to realize the importance and significance of chiropractic care. “I always knew I wanted to do something the health profession where I could help others” He enjoys working with patients of all ages and professions. Children are some his favorite patients and thinks it is important to start educating our children at a young age the importance and benefits of chiropractic. Kids need adjusted just as much as adults do as their bodies are constantly growing and changing. Dr. Schmidt lived in the Quad Cities for 12 years, then moved for a few years, and is now very happy to be back in the area helping better people’s lives. If he’s not in the office, he’s likely out fishing!

Dr. Darland was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa. She started going to Palmer College as a patient when she was 19 due to the demands of her job on her body.
